昨年8月のナショナルデースピーチで、首相による発表があったように、シンガポールの定年延長は、段階的に適用されるよう手はずが整ってきている。
2年後の2022年には、定年は63歳に。（現在は62歳）10年後の2030年には65歳となる。
定年後の再雇用制度についても、2022年には、68歳まで（現在は67歳）、2030年には70歳となる予定で、企業側の雇用継続プランにも大きく影響を及ぼすことになりそうだ。
ご存知の方も多いと思うが、シンガポールのユニークなシステムに、政府が支援するスキルアッププログラムというのがある。
「ハブ国家」として、常にテクノロジーの進化とグローバライゼーションの激変と歩みをともにし、高いスキルを持つ外国人人材とも肩をならべて社会経済活動を牽引、支援し続けて行くには、シンガポール国民（市民）が自ら積極的に、新しい知識と技術を学び続けてゆかなければならない。
たとえば、大学や専門学校だけに知識・技術取得を任せず、社会人になってからも後押しする、WSQ（Workforce Skills Qualifications）プログラムは2005年から続いているし、2015年からスタートしたSkillsFutureプログラムでは、受講費用を政府が負担、アウォードを導入したりなど総括的な取り組みを見せている。
シンガポール政府が、戦略的にこの国際競争力を高めるスキルアップシステムを、国民一人一人に向けて実施しているという点において、定年延長ニュースも未来の明るいものに思えるのは私だけだろうか。

As PM Lee announced in his last year’s National Day Rally speech, Singapore is raising the retirement age from 62 to 63 by 2022 and to 65 by 2030, as well as the re-employment age from 67 to 68 by 2022 and to 70 by 2030.
Employers will need to be ready for all these workforce transformation.
As many of you may know, Singapore government supports continuous skill upgrading for the people at workplace - programmes called Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ).
To be competitive with foreign talent, Singaporeans’ knowledge and skills always need to be updated and upgraded. WSQ system strongly helps them develop future careers smoothly.
With these programmes designed by the government, I believe the news of raised retirement age is not that bad as long as you are competent. We always love to learn through the life journeys.
